Finally, a break to breathe!

These last 3 weeks have been very hectic for us.  On December 21, Liam was hospitalized due to dehydration from the stomach bug.  He was not eating or drinking, and had not had a wet diaper in 6 hours.  He had been in Urgent Care the day before, and the doctor said that he looked okay.  He told us to keep pushing fluids.  Well, we tried everything, he just would not drink.  By 6:00 pm, I said that I've had it, and we took him in to the ER.  Thank goodness we did, because he was quickly going downhill.  After 15 minutes of poking and proding, and having to switch arms, he was hooked up to an IV for fluids.  The nurses said that they could feel the veins, but because of the dehydration, they were very hard to stick.  By 12 am, we were still in the ER, and they had done xrays to check everything out.  He still was refusing to drink and was very tired.  By 1 am, they decided to admit him overnight to get him rehydrated.  When we were waiting, Billy became very ill with the same thing that Liam had.  He went home to get some rest, and I was left alone with my poor sick baby.  I was so scared, I think that by the time they came and got us at 2 am to go up to his room, I had come up with every scenario possible.

The nurses were very nice and understanding.  One had asked me how long we have been in the ER, and I said since 6 pm.  She said "Oh, honey, I'm so sorry!  You must be exhausted, let me take care of your baby and you so you guys can get some rest!"  That was a relief after all we had been through.

Nana came to the rescue the next day, and I went home to get some rest after hearing that he would have to stay another night.  By the next morning, I had gotten sick!  So, Billy had to go relieve Nana.  About 2 pm, Liam drank enough to show the doctors that he could go home.

What a nightmare!!!!

So, after we got better, along came Christmas.  We went to Nana's house, and got 4 people sick!  Aye!  We thought we were not contagious!  But, before they got sick, we were off to Great Grandma's.  We got 2 more people sick!  Aye Aye! We felt very, very bad about it.

So, a new year has started, and we have so much planned!  Stay tuned for more posts! :)

Graduation

I am so proud of my sister.  She graduated with honors in Special Education from West Liberty on Saturday.  I was so honored to be with her to celebrate this great accomplishment.  Daddy would be so proud of his baby girl.  Congratulations, Lisa!

Look all all those teeth!

Liam was a late teether, which has it's good and bad points.  Good, because they seem to be all coming at once, and bad, because he is so miserable at night!  Last night, his front two teeth came through, at the same time.  He hasn't been going to bed until 9:00 for the past 3 nights, he usually goes down around 7:30-8.  We've been having to put him in our bed to fall asleep then transfer him to the crib.  I feel so sorry for the little guy!  I couldn't imagine those sharp, foreign things poking through my gums.  He has a total of 7 now, just last month he had 2!

He also is learning so many new words!  Billy and I counted, and he's up to 13.  His first was mama and dada.  He can bark, moo, gobble, meow, ho ho ho, oink, nay and say thank you. We are doing sign language, and he can sign all done, dog, cat, please, cow, milk and blow kisses.  We are working on snow, reindeer and thank you!  It seems like he was cooing yesterday...sigh...

Simply Plyler family blog

Since Liam is now one, I thought I would start a blog about our lives and how he is forever changing them.  We had his birthday party about a week ago, and I had so many emotions.  I was sad that my baby has now evolved into a toddler, excited because this is the stage when everything is so fun, and I was thankful that he has been healthy and happy.

This past year has truly been a blessing.  From sleep deprivation, dirty diapers and endless feedings, to teething, walking, and then running.  It has been great!

Hopefully, I will be able to post several times a week to log what we have been doing, pictures, and just about anything! :)
